Safeco is now Liberty Mutual.
That changes the question rather than answering it, which is why this page says it plainly instead of guessing at the rest.

What we looked for, and what we found
We searched Safeco's own domain for a page that says who files an SR-22, and did not find one we could open and quote. “Safeco Insurance was acquired by Liberty Mutual Insurance® in 2008 and retained the Safeco brand name.” The brand has since been retired. Liberty Mutual's own page says “Safeco is now Liberty Mutual” and that “While the Safeco name is now retired, Safeco customers will keep their agent relationship, and their policies will not be impacted other than the name change.” safeco.com itself now redirects away. So a question about a Safeco SR-22 is a question about Liberty Mutual, and that has its own answer on this site.
How to get a real answer
Three steps, none of which involve trusting a page like this one.
- 01
Ask them directly
If you already hold a Safeco policy, ask whether they will add an SR-22 filing in your state. That is a question only they can answer.
- 02
Ask what changes at renewal
Adding a filing to an existing policy and being written fresh with one are different decisions, and carriers treat them differently.
- 03
Compare at the same time
Carriers that specialize in high-risk filings say so plainly on their own sites, and comparing costs nothing.
Does Safeco offer SR-22 insurance?
- Does Safeco file SR-22s?
- Their own site does not say. The brand has since been retired.
- Why doesn't this page just answer the question?
- Because answering it would mean inventing a fact about a named company. This page previously did exactly that, with specifics that had no source. Those have been removed, and what replaced them is either a quotation or nothing.
- Where can I get a definitive answer?
- From Safeco directly if you are already a customer, or from a licensed agent who knows which carriers are writing high-risk filings in your state this week. Underwriting appetite changes; published pages do not.
- Which carriers do say they file?
- Several state it plainly on their own sites. Where they do, we quote them and link to the page so you can check it yourself.

No car to insure? How a non-owner SR-22 works. In Florida or Virginia after a DUI, the form is usually the FR-44 instead: what changes.

The question a page cannot answer
Whether Safeco or anyone else will write your record, and what they would charge, comes down to your state and your history. A licensed agent can compare carriers that file SR-22s in your state and tell you what one would cost. It takes about three minutes and the referral is free.
